Great Halloween Crafts

Published 10.25.2007 | Permanent Link | Comments (0)

You may not know this, based on the tone of my summer time Burning Daylight series. I like doing things with my kids I just don't like doing things with my kids 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Which is what my kids think life should be like in the summer: a non-stop stream of F-U-N in the form of crafts and outings and candy.

It's no longer summer though and now that the kids are in school our ability to do crafts together is a little more limited. I thought I'd share with you some great ideas I found and have filed under "Halloween To-Do When We Have A Minute".

First up is Scrumdilly Do, you may remember these girls helped me through the summer with a few Burning Daylight projects and for that I am eternally grateful. They've got great Halloween Marshmallows right now, this is a post I wish I would have read before making our cupcakes. These flattened, cut into shapes and then painted marshmallows would have been great fun for the kids to make and a little more exciting than the store bought and rock hard marshmallow shapes I ended up putting on our cupcakes. There's still time though since we have one more party to attend.

I usually like to keep under 20 messages in my email inbox, more than that leaves me feeling frazzled. I currently have over 300 messages in my inbox. This means I am feeling frazzled and that I've forgotten the name of the nice lady who emailed asking if I'd ever written about a shrunken head craft.

I have not written about shrunken heads, until now. The often missed, Loobylu did at Kiddley last Halloween. She has left us great instructions and even an update (no mold!) for creating your own carved head out of an apple.

Please do not ask me why, but it truly never occurred to me to make those clever glass pebble magnets with kids. Thankfully Little Elephants did, with a Halloween theme. If you read the comments I even had my very own idea (!!!) What about attaching a ring to the back of your glass pebble and creating a fabulous Halloween ring?

Of course I have yet to try this but when I do, you'll be the first to know.

Keep refreshing this page until then.
