The Best Handmade Holiday Cards For Kids

I'm not going to lie to you. I am not even going to attempt to make our holiday cards this year. I have a motto and the motto is this: Whatever needs to get done, will get done. Making homemade cards is not making my list this year.
The kids, however, want to make a few of their own cards for their friends, which is a fantastic idea since they have far less than one hundred friends and/or acquaintances and/or business contacts they'd like to send cards to. I should probably verify this before I agree to make cards with them.
I've collected some ideas I'd be willing to create with the kids, they're reasonably easy and affordable and not particularly messy. Maybe you'll be inspired to create your own cards with your kids because you're nicer than me.
These ornament cards would be incredibly simple to make and can include a photo. My kids don't like the picture I choose to send out in our holiday cards, because they're, you know, sitting near each other in it. But I'm sure they can come up with something to put inside, a sticker or a picture of Zac from High School Musical (!!!!).
Kid's hand prints are always a hit, because it's an easy way for even the smallest kid to participate in making cards. This card uses your kid's handprint to make Santa's beard. Imagine a tiny newborn hand print Santa. Cute. If your kids are small enough, and your paper big enough you could potentially have each of your children's hand prints make Santas across the page.
Martha is always so very tasteful. Often tasteful is also 'complicated' so I had to dig through her holiday card ideas for the ones your kids might be able to do without tears or clenched jaw frustration (from you, not the kids). I'm not sure it gets much easier than this card idea, your kid creates a holiday themed drawing, you have it reproduced on card stock (either at home or at your local printer).
Another tiny bit trickier, but so sweet, idea is to have your child's drawing reproduced onto a magnet which is then attached to your holiday card.
This idea isn't so much simple but it is so great I had to put it here. I love this pop up Christmas Tree card. If I can teach my kids how to make their own pop up, I think I'll be a hero. Even if I can't teach them, this is a card I'd love to get.
