The Easiest Valentine's Day Crafts for Kids.

I realize it's only January and Valentine's Day doesn't come until next month and everything. But if you're like me and your kids are going to be involved in making valentines for their class/friends/loved ones, guess what, you better start thinking about it now, even if they are easy Valentine's Day gifts.
Last year I shared some excellent Kids' Valentine's Day crafts and even made some with the kids.
This year I have some other ideas collected I'm debating doing with the kids. The theme this year seems to be Simple Valentines, but then again that's always my theme.
At the Small Object a cute idea using crepe paper, paper circles decorated with drawing and stamps. I was thinking coffee filters could work for this as well, though they'd be less frilly and colorful. You could paint them with water colors if you wanted to get that involved. Generally painting with kids is against my religion, but you may have different heart felt beliefs about children and paint.
I like this Valentine Heart Letter idea from Martha. A simple heart on decorative paper, folded into an envelope with a message inside. So many papers would work beautifully for this project. Start out looking here.
Here's a keepsake type of valentine from Wondertime which is probably less of a classroom valentine and better as a gift for all those loving grandparents and teachers. A sheet of magnet is decorated and cut into a heart. Easy for even the littlest hands to do.
I think kids would love creating this valentine for their classmates, it's almost a magic trick for them. Fold the paper twice, cut half a heart, unfold and you've magically got two hearts. Try it on decorative paper and let your kid write his name to complete.
If you're not going to make valentines with your kid, it's okay. My personal motto is, "What needs to get done, gets done." Here are some adorable valentine's from the lovely Brenda at Secret Agent Josephine. At just $5 for 36 of them, I'm kind of feeling the rearranging of my time commitments.
I'll keep you posted on which option the kids and I end up doing together. I'm even secretly tossing around the idea of a shrinky dink valentine themed magnet project. Hmmmm....

when pnut was a baby, i cut out two big red hearts and on one side of one i used a black sharpie and wrote "I" and the other wrote "MY" on one side and "DADDY" on the other.
then i took a bunch of pictures of her holding the heart (both sides), picked out the cutest of each, and printed them out wallet-sized (kodak easyshare lets you put 4 on a 4x6" sheet, i know other photo printers have capabilities like this too). and framed it in a red frame from marshalls.
older kids could decorate a cardboard frame with those candy hearts for a cute picture on dad's desk/vehicle.
i love crafty things for valentines day!
