Nice Guy Award: Quaker Oats

Last week we created the Nice Guy Award and awarded Toys "R" Us & Hyundai. Today we're awarding Quaker Oats.
So why is Quaker Oats getting a Nice Guy Award?
Starting on January 12 and going through February 28, you can visit www.startwithsubstance.com to enter the UPC (barcode) from any variety of Quaker hot cereal; for every UPC entered, Quaker will donate a bowl of nutritious oatmeal to Share Our Strength, up to 1 million bowls of oatmeal. (You must be a member of Facebook in order to enter UPCs.) Nice!
Quaker's partner is Share Our Strength, an organization dedicated to ending childhood hunger. Please help them reach their goal of up to 1 million bowls of oatmeal!
Other ways you can get involved:
- If you're a blogger, consider spreading the word about the Start With Substance program by participating in this weekend's Parent Blogger's blog blast. In doing so, you not only help other families, but will be eligible to win one of two $250 Visa Gift Cards. This campaign lasts only through tonight, Sunday January 18.
- Help my friend Chris Jordan at Notes from the Trenches give $5,000 to the hunger charity of her choice thanks to Quaker Oats in support of the Start with Substance program. (Plus, go see pictures of her cutie pre-schooler eating oatmeal. You'll want to devour him).

The Hotspot originally started out as a monthly-or-so feature written by our favorite storytellers. Usually products or services were highlighted that tickled us. Over the past year delightful innovations and introductions in the maternity and parenting space have increased, and we feel we need a space to share our discoveries with you. Daily news stories on parenting also inspire us to communicate with you. As such, the Hotspot is now the Alpha Mom daily blog. Finally!
