Another Nice Guy Award to Toys "R" Us

Toys“R”Us just released its annual Differently-Abled Guide, a toy guide which matches specific skill sets with a wide range of everyday toys. It's complimentary, available in Toys“R”Us and Babies“R”Us stores nationwide and online, in English and Spanish, at Toysrus.com.
The guide has been developed for the past 15 years now with the National Lekotek Center, a nonprofit organization dedicated to making the world accessible to children of all abilities. They assess the play value of hundreds of toys for children with special needs. Then the toughest toy critics chime in-- the kids.
You can search by skills that are important for your child's ability level. Recommended are the same toys you would find in all kids' homes. For example, under "Language Skills," the ubiquitous Zingo game is a best-seller.

About this Column
The Hotspot originally started out as a monthly-or-so feature written by our favorite storytellers. Usually products or services were highlighted that tickled us. Over the past year delightful innovations and introductions in the maternity and parenting space have increased, and we feel we need a space to share our discoveries with you. Daily news stories on parenting also inspire us to communicate with you. As such, the Hotspot is now the Alpha Mom daily blog. Finally!

I love this guide. Since we have a special needs child, it can be hard to decide what toys to get him. This guide makes it easier and makes me feel better that Toys R Us considers children like him.
