Get This Actual, Real-World Look: For Blue Eyes Only

Today's eye makeup demo is courtesy of Susannah (the Painting Chef!) and her big, lovely blue eyes.
First, I should point out that I'm capable of much more interesting eye makeup. But that it can also make me look like a crazy person. So this is my tried and true routine that is safe for any event. If I'm dressing things up a little more I might go a little heavier on the liner on the upper eyelids to make things a little more... dramatic. But just between you and me? It's a damn good day if I make it this far. More often than not only the mascara and eyeliner seem to find their way to my face. Well, those and the DHC Eye Bright. I won't leave the house without a coat of that.
So here we go...
Tools: Mary Kay Double Espresso (middle colors) and Vintage Gold (right hand side), Trish McEvoy "The Card" (The single most expensive compact I've ever bought but also the most fragile which would explain why it kind of looks like I ran over it with my car when I only dropped it ONCE!), DHC Eye Bright, Too Faced Lash Injection Mascara and a random assortment of brushes including a Lancome one from some gift with purchase a hundred years ago, Trish McEvoy Brush 11, two random brushes, one of which is angled and a Sephora eyelash comb.
Because I love you, you shall not be forced to see my skin in all it's shiny glory because I will powder myself appropriately. You are welcome. The first thing I do is apply a little bit of DHC's "Eye Bright" under each eye. This reduces the puffiness by the time I get to work. I love that.
Next I use the Lancome brush, which is nice and wide and soft to give my entire upper lid a good coating of Soft Peach from the Trish McEvoy compact.
Now comes the angled brush and ideally the Rose Quartz shade from the Trish McEvoy compact. Sadly? That shade lasted all of 2 weeks until I dropped the compact. So I use the lighter color from the Mary Kay "Double Espresso". I know, I know... Mary Kay. But I actually kind of love their eye shadow. It stays exactly where I tell it too and it fits nicely in my newly acquired budget. I just apply this color in the crease so it looks like a frowny face. No worries... we'll blend.
Next I go back to the Lancome brush and "Vintage Gold" from the Mary Kay compact. This goes between the crease and lashline.
Finally I take the other random smallish brush and line the upper lid with "Deep Aubergine" from the Trish McEvoy compact.
Finally? Blend, blend, blend. I usually use my finger. Or a Q-tip.
For the lower lid, I use the Trish McEvoy Brush 11 and the "Deep Aubergine" again and line right up under the lash line.
And again? Blend to soften. Finger or a Q-tip
To finish off? Two coats of Lash Injection mascara and a swipe with a lash comb if you are as desperate need of new mascara as I am...
